Description:
This 599 is the 3rd car converted to manual transmission using factory parts by Exotic Cars USA. As far as I know it may be the last one that will ever be completed due to lack of original parts availability. Additionally, it won the FCA Platino trophy at the 2024 Pennsylvania Concorso.
It took 10 months to convert this car. It was a lengthy process, both due to the sourcing parts as well as modifying the car, especially the interior. One advantage of buying this car is that it is already converted, so you don't have to wait. It was converted by the best in the world, and provides the factory-like shifting experience using as many OEM parts as possible.
This is not a cable conversion, and it also does not have 100% OEM parts. The conversion was done by Exoticars USA where they used as many Ferrari parts as possible, however there are few parts that were not available from Ferrari such as the clutch pedal, center console, etc. The clutch pedal is a Ferrari brake pedal refitted as a clutch pedal, the center console is a replica from an original center console which they have at the shop from which they made direct molds. The fittings from the shift rod are machined replicas and then modified to provide a better than factory experience.
This is about as good as it gets. The Enzo derived tipo F140C is an epic V12 engine wrapped in a Pininfarina-penned body. OEM parts have a unicorn status and makes all the difference in shifter feel – particularly the parts between the shift knob and the gearbox casing. With those in place, the tactile experience that an OEM conversion delivers is indistinguishable from a factory manual car. There is no mechanical difference compared to the 30 gated 599s that rolled out of Maranello. This is not a reproduction of the original shifting experience… it’s the real thing.
In my opinion, OEM-parts conversions are the only way to convert a Ferrari as designed by Ferrari. And I think most would agree that Ferrari does a lot of things right, including their iconic gated shifting. There are so few of these cars because the dealer network was pushing the F1 gearbox and customers were checking the box to make sure they got cars, not because the manual cars of that generation (430, 599) were subpar. However, for 599s specifically, OEM conversions are optimized on the software side compared to factory cars. So, all that to say, this low mile, superlative specification, OEM conversion (by arguably the best specialist in the business) is a truly special car that cannot be easily replaced.
