Description

This 2004 Ferrari 360 Spider (owned 16 years) is powered by a 3.6-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Blu Tour de France over Cuoio leather with blue (BLU 168) carpet. Equipment as delivered to Ferrari North America includes 18 inch wheels, a blue convertible soft top, a gated shifter, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, and a Hi-Fi sound system 6 CD changer with a subwoofer, complete set of books, leather bound tool kit and a Ferrari car cover. The current owner acquired it in July 2007 with 3,900 miles, and they have added approximately 11,500 miles This 360 Spider is now offered in Washington State by the owner with a clean Washington State title (Owner formerly lived in Maryland)

The Pininfarina-designed aluminum body is finished in Blu Tour de France and features xenon headlights, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, a power-retractable blue convertible soft top, and quad exhaust outlets exiting through the rear fascia.

The cockpit features factory seats upholstered in Cuoio leather along with matching door panel inserts and a dark blue upper dashboard. Amenities include a gated shifter, aluminum pedals, automatic climate control, a Ferrari CD stereo with trunk mounted 6 disc changer, leather-wrapped roll hoops, and an optional Hi-Fi sound system with a subwoofer.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 220-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an 8,500-rpm redline as well as a digital fuel level readout and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, and coolant temperature. The digital odometer indicates 15,000+ miles, approximately 11,500 of which were added under current ownership.

The mid-mounted 3.6-liter Tipo F131 V8 features a flat-plane crankshaft, dry-sump lubrication, dual overhead camshafts, and five valves per cylinder. Factory-rated output was 395 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The most recent timing belt service was completed in July 2018 at 13,500 miles, oil and antifreeze were changed at the same time. Brake fluid was changed by Ferrari of Seattle

This is an exceptionally well sorted 360 model. Known issues involving many if not eventually all 360s at some point in time are; Disintegrating failure of pre-cats, hydraulic cam timing variators failure and cam belt tensioner failure. The electrical circuitry failure in the ECU, thermocouple and CAT ECU circuitry, which in my opinion is the most serious, causing anywhere from an annoying false flashing SLOW DOWN message on the instrument panel to a sudden ECU command to drop to only four of the eight cylinders running. Imagine that you are passing on a two lane roadway suddenly dropping to four cylinders. This is potentially life threatening and it happened to me! The disintegrating pre cats, timing variators and faulty belt tensioners will only grenade the engine, the faulty SLOW DOWN light and sudden 4 cylinder drop can be hazardous to your health!

At 13,500 miles in August / September of 2018 the precats were removed and replaced with a set of FabSpeed tuned headers sent out to Jet Hot coating prior to installation. Disintegrating cat failure solved.
Also in August / September of 2018, the exhaust cams were removed and sent to Brian Crall Company, Dallas TX where new hydraulic cam variators were fitted. Cams were then replaced, valve timing set and appropriate seals replaced. At the same time, timing belts were replaced as were the belt tensioners. The SlOW DOWN issue was intermittent, stubborn and potentially deadly. Algar, the Philadelphia authorized Ferrari Dealer and Ferrari of Seattle were unable to resolve the problem although they did charge for trying. After studying the system it was the ECUs that were at fault. Both ECUs were removed and sent to the U.K. where they programmed by a former Bosch Motronics tech removing the SLOW DOWN fault. If you want the finest well sorted 360 in perhaps THE most desirable colors and 6 speed manual then this is your car. A near Identical 360 sold on Bringatrailer for $220,000.00

The 360 Spider is Ferrari's 20th road-going convertible and is a record breaker in two quite different ways.
