Description

One owner since July 2001. Binder full of service receipts including multiple major services over that time will be included. Car was originally out of California, I believe I am the third owner. The car is now the best it’s ever been in my 23 years of ownership.

Significant refresh in 2022 including paint and mechanical work following an incident on an FCA toy run. Paint work handled by Stuarts Paint and Body, the best body shop in Dallas that does work for all high-end local dealers including Ferrari, Maserati, Bentley and Porsche. Mechanical work done by Boardwalk Ferrari. Fresh paint on entire front, perfectly matched to the rest of the car. Front spoiler has been replaced and refinished. OEM front bumper installed, believed to be the last NOS bumper in the world. Steering rack and front control arms replaced. A/C condenser rebuilt. New battery. All four wheels refinished in correct Ferrari color with new tires and a four-wheel alignment. New wheel center caps. New headlights. New rear storage area cover and new seal. Cover is the closest to original that I could find, not a poorly made imitation. The embossed French seam is stamped in the vinyl as with the original.

Belt service also completed in 2022 at Boardwalk Ferrari with Hill Engineering bearings. New A/C compressor installed by Boardwalk May 2023, charged with correct R12. Throttle assembly removed, dismantled, cleaned and re-greased at same time. New speedometer sensor also in 2023.

All books and tools are there. Does not have a trouble light. Some of the fuses/bulbs in the round electrical pack are missing per an FCA judge.

One original folding ignition key and one original door key. Includes a more recent steel F50 key that has been cut for the ignition and a second aftermarket key for the door.

The top was sanded and painted body-color by a previous owner. The rear spoiler and mirrors were also sanded and refinished in semi-gloss black. The rear quarter-window louvers were customized by me so the car would have the GTB look that I prefer, with added benefit of improved rear quarter visibility.
I have the original Ferrari-script floor mats that could use new backing. The existing black mats are aftermarket and could be replaced. The shift knob currently installed is aftermarket, I prefer the size vs. the small original. The original comes with the car.

Known issues:
• The power antenna doesn’t go down. It may not even go up anymore, I don’t listen to the radio. The music I listen to is behind me. I have a replacement or two but never installed them because I don’t care about the radio, but it’s an original Alpine cassette unit and it works.
• The seatbelts are sometimes difficult to unspool and put on. It’s intermittent and I’ve removed and regreased them both a few times over the years.
• The seats are showing their age. The color is fading on both. No holes or significant wear areas. Drivers bolster is good for a 37 year old car. I considered re-dying the seats but chose to keep them original. The car smells of old leather, Wilton wool and gas/oil. That smell can’t be duplicated and is intoxicating.
• I’ve been working to restore the leather on the steering wheel, it was very dry. It’s working slowly as the leather absorbs the moisture.
• The A/C fan control only works on full. I only use it on full so haven’t been concerned with it because with every 328 the airflow is very limited anyway.
• The light inside the driver’s window switch doesn’t illuminate. I have a new replacement switch.
• Both windows are slow as is common on these cars. The passenger side is slower in a race between the two.
• The door pocket on the passenger side sags open. I have replacement springs somewhere but they aren’t immediately at hand.
• The rear quarter glass leaks water during car washes causing minor stains on the shelf fabric. I’m not willing to risk breaking the glass to have it re-sealed, so try to be careful when I wash it.
• When I bought the car it had a massive security system which had cellular capability and a 6v battery backup. It has been removed. The sole remaining part is an led light on the center console that doesn’t work as it’s been disconnected but is still in place. I didn’t want a hole in the console.

This car is well known on FerrariChat and in the DFW area as I’ve been very active in the Ferrari community since I bought the car. There are countless stories, adventures and pictures of this car on FerrariChat going back to 2001. It’s won a few awards locally over the years, including Winner, Vintage V8 at the 2022 Boardwalk Ferrari Concorso.

I’m happy to discuss the car openly and at length with any buyer that has a true interest but won’t get into an online BaT-type discussion. I’ll provide my phone number via PM to anyone that wants to chat. My price is somewhat negotiable for a serious buyer, but I believe it to be priced fairly for today’s market and the condition of the car. I’ll do my best to accommodate a PPI and am happy to coordinate pickup or dropoff for anyone needing to travel to the area to see/drive/pick up the car. I’m only posting for sale on FerrariChat at this point as I’d like for it to stay within the community if possible.

The car is offered as-is, where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. It’s a 37 year old exotic car, not a new Honda.

Pininfarina paid particular attention to styling details that influenced the car's CD and aerodynamic lift characteristics – with impressive results. Cabin ergonomics were improved and the shape of the seats revised to better suit the sporty driving style this type of car deserved. On all versions, low profile tyres and 16" alloy wheels were available as an option.
